Policy Statement

Oasis Home Services is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people in our care. We believe that every young person has the right to be safe, protected from harm, and supported to thrive. Safeguarding is not an isolated function — it is embedded in everything we do, from recruitment and staff training to day-to-day support and multi-agency working.

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, management, and any individual working on behalf of Oasis Home Services.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All young people aged 16 and above residing in Oasis Home Services supported accommodation

  • All employed staff, agency workers, and volunteers

  • All partner agencies and external professionals working alongside our team

  • Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) and young people with SEND or SEMH needs placed within our provision

Legislative Framework

Oasis Home Services operates in accordance with all relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including:

  • Children Act 1989 & 2004

  • Children and Social Work Act 2017

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018

  • Care Act 2014

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2023 (where applicable)

  • Equality Act 2010

  • Human Rights Act 1998

  • Ofsted Supported Accommodation Regulations and National Minimum Standards

Our Safeguarding Framework

Safeguarding is central to the work we do at Oasis Home Services. Our safeguarding framework includes:

  • Robust safeguarding policies and procedures aligned with national standards

  • Regular staff training and safeguarding awareness updates

  • Thorough risk assessments and personalised support planning for each young person

  • 24/7 welfare monitoring and on-call management support

  • Multi-agency safeguarding collaboration with local authorities, social workers, and partner professionals

  • Clear and transparent incident reporting procedures

  • Regular supervision and reflective practice for all staff

Roles & Responsibilities

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Oasis Home Services has a designated safeguarding lead who is responsible for:

  • Overseeing all safeguarding concerns and referrals

  • Liaising with local authorities, social services, and statutory agencies

  • Ensuring all staff receive appropriate safeguarding training

  • Maintaining accurate and confidential safeguarding records

  • Reviewing and updating this policy on a regular basis

All Staff & Volunteers
All staff and volunteers are expected to:

  • Complete safeguarding training as part of induction and ongoing CPD

  • Remain vigilant to signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm

  • Report any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead

  • Never ignore or dismiss a concern — no matter how minor it may appear

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with young people at all times

Reporting a Safeguarding Concern

If any member of staff, partner, or professional has a safeguarding concern relating to a young person supported by Oasis Home Services, they must report it immediately.

Do not delay. Do not investigate alone. Do not promise confidentiality.
